Sawada, an Osaka native, spent his time in the U.S. growing and promoting camellias. During the 1930’s he planted 2,000 plants including camellias, azaleas and crepe myrtle at a fishery he owned in Mobile, Alabama. This site has more recently become the site for a new Japanese Garden in Mobile. |
